Even if there is no written law specific to how long you can stay in Thailand on the various tourist visas in any calendar year, it will be covered by a generic law regarding abuse of the system, or using a visa not suitable for the purpose of the visit etc. And they Hello everybody ๐Ÿ™‚

My Girl just arrived in Bangkok this Morning with her TR Visa, she visited Thailand for about 8 Months from 2022 to April 2023, now the Guys at the Immigration at the Airport pulled her out and told her she has to Book a flight back Home cause she did Border Runs on her Last visit.. they ve discussed a little and then told her to pay 2000 Baht, have her the Extension so she now can stay 90 days but told her she has to leave Thailand After 90 days and she Not allowed to do a Border Run!

Does somebody here can Tell me what happened there? Will she get Problems if she ll do a Border run in 90 days? Cause she would like to stay longer in Thailandโ€ฆ

Best of wishes,

Valentin not making false claims about people, they are using the lesser known obscure rules/laws as reason for rejection. Ultimately any 'entry is at the sole discretion of the immigration officer'. They have more power than the police. They don't need to write down their laws where you can see it, and they don't need to tell you.

Although there maybe no written rule for how long you can stay in a calendar year on the various tourist visas, it will be covered under some generic laws about abusing the system in anyway or using visas not suitable for the purpose of the visit. And they are not ma terryking false claims, they are using their obscure rules/laws as reason to reject who they feel might not be such valued guest. Ultimately 'entry is at the sole discretion of the immigration officer involved'. They don't need a reason, they dont need to tell you a reason.

no she won't be banned, don't be rediculous, scaremongering the poor girl and guy. Banned for what ? Worst case is she'll be turned away, so its much recommended if she did try, then make a land crossing.

ah, I see. That makes sense. I remember also, just before COVID extensions introduced, I think maybe just 2-3 days before, Samui immigration told me at the front desk they would reject my unofficial COVID extension request (I think some countries were getting them, others not) and they would instead give me the 7 day exit stamp, but they did allow me to walk back out knowing I was on overstay. And I subsequently accepted the 7 day exit stamp, which was a bum move as they announced COVID visa data later .., and nobody can override that exit stamp, but any amount of overstay is workable. I can't remember how I got out of that ? As I definitely didn't bounce out and back in ..days before COVID .

handy to know, and handy to have. Not as handy as two passports in two different names though. ๐Ÿ˜œ

Hardly the immigration crime of the century, give them a break. There's people with 1000+ days overstay out there, some with criminal charges, others working illegally for years, some of these with serious criminal charges in there home countries, using Thailand as a hideaway, and your busting this girls balls for what ? I think any immigration rules would be there regardless of this couple, or any number of offenders....do you think there would be no rules if there was never any offenders ?

how did you manage to get two from UK passport service. I was told 'no of course not' but then hearing other countries have oblidged their citizens. You still have 2 now ? Did you have to show anything with regards to proving a need ? What's is/was your line of work, if you don't mind me asking .....

yes because all Thai government computers are fully functioning and data has never been lost, and systems are never down. If you've got concerns about your own history, the last thing you should be doing, is telling them everything they need to know, in writing, in a legal document. Dont do their work for them. Let them show what they have on you. As you would be wise to say to authorities under questioning, "no comment officer". Anything you say will be used against you.

I didn't think you could 'apply' for it as such anyway, and it was given when a visa application/extension was rejected. Wouldn't you be asked to settle any fines prior to any application, as has been the way for me on many occasions, at many offices and checkpoints.

but it is considered that you are turning yourself in if you present yourself to immigration, but it's usually at an airport. I've walked out of immigration, back into the country, while on minor overstay, under 10 days though, as I didnt like what they were saying about my chances of re-entry at that checkpoint, and I wanted to make alternative plans. I did politely ask if I can turn around and go back in, and they nodded. I went to another border, through an agent, with the promise of a same-day re-entry, paid the overstay, got the overstay stamp, and came back in shortly after. But an immigration officer allowed me to backtrack into the country and disappear knowing I was on overstay already, is my point. I would think going to an immigration office would be considered the same as handing yourself in, and they would give a 7 day exit stamp for any refused visa application. Although even that is given at the sole discretion of any Imm. officer
