What a weird take. That sounds like you’ve just visited Thailand once.

Too many “expats” - although DTV visa holders are essentially glorified tourists, puts rent up, increases costs, and makes Thais (even more) fed up of hordes of foreigners year round.

People who live here, Thais and expats, enjoy low season because of fewer tourists.

With too many foreigners coming in on this easy visa, there are concerns from expat communities. Not to mention so many foreigners coming into Thailand and not integrating, not living per Thai rules, and treating the country as if it’s their own.

Are you even in Thailand?

It needs to be strict to prevent anyone just applying. Otherwise it’s going to saturate the expat scene
