I would use a VPN and try! I would not be surprised if it didn't work. You must fulfill the requierements of course. But a flight ticket is easy to show. Make sure the date fits though!

there a plenty of reliable agents that do a good job. Some more expensive than others. I have done both with and without agents and they take the insecurity and stress away well. I agree that the paperwork is often extensive and difficult to do correctly by yourself. Follow your instinct. If you use an agent look here for advice to good agents where you reside.

Thank you for the comments. In the end I went to Jomtien Immigration. Asked them and the officer said she preferred that I did it. Two times I asked if it was demanded. Same answer - she preferred it. I went through the process without problems.

I should mention that they announce a new app via Line which will allow Address registration and 90-days report on line. I down loaded the app via Line and it looks convenient.

Anybody has used it? I have never seen it before and last time I did 90-days I didn't observe it.

There is no public transport to talk about. The freedom in transport anywhere, anytime that you describe is only achievable with car, unless motorcycle is an option (don't forget the rain period though).

There are taxis of different kinds. They work in town but not outside.

I have chosen to have a car since I must keeo times nearly every day. I have tried the taxi and rental car combination but to have the freedom this is too expensive.

do you use a car mechanic? Although there are manuals for almost everything. Or do you use craftsmen in your house even though most can be done by yourself?

Apply for a tourist visum 60 days. It is electronic I think and answer is quite fast. She needs a pile of documents like passport, vaccination, tickets and where to stay. But it is not too difficult. You find the page on Thai embassys addresses. You obtain a paper to bring to immigration. No visum stamp in the passport.

When you come you can the prolong 30 more days.

Many I know pay in this range. It is not ridiculous. Of course some people say it is possible to do yourself. But it is your choice if you prefer to use an agent.

please go on!

I see empty hotels, closed restaurants en masse, empty beaches, empty airports. Lines of people waiting for food packages was a frequent sight.....shall I go on!
