How do personal tax rates vary between the U.K. and Thailand, would going Non Tax in the U.K. be more economical by paying tax in Thailand. My taxable income in the U.K. is around £18000 with pensions and interest payments. I will be having a consultation with a tax expert in the U.K. but he has no knowledge of the Thai tax system.

Shocking news for declaration from 2025 and forward. For all who declare foreign income and wish to deduct their foreign tax from the Thai tax according to DTA. Now legalized documents are mandatory as per Revenue service DTA subdivision from 14.01.2026 sent out to all local tax offices!!!

just left the local revenue office.

here's what they asked

1. Any income from Thailand? No

2. Any monthly pension? No

3. Is the money coming in from savings on income before 1 January 2024? Yes

I showed them a print out of my ATM withdrawals and my WISE transfers.

No need to file or pay tax in Thailand due to transferred funds and ATM withdrawals coming from existing savings.

Is anyone able to tell me what type of taxes you pay after retirement? I believe it has to do with the amount of income? Are you paying alot or a moderate amount?

When I retire here next year, will my US pension and Social Security be taxable in Thailand? Will I be paying Thai taxes and US Federal taxes? I guess at least I won't pay colorado state taxes.
