You don’t need your debit card. You can scan pay with your app and you can cardless withdraw money at the ATM with the app too.

What visa do I need to visit Thailand for a month and what are the retirement visa options?

You are American passport holder so you could enter without a visa (visa exemption) and get stamped in for 60 days. You also could get a 60 day tourist visa. For retirement, if you are 50+ you could apply for retirement visa. Elite visa is also an option.
