Hi Lee, setting up a Thai bank account can be quite the process now but anyway if it gets too had you always have the option to use an agent, anyway you can transfer directly from an Australian bank to your Thai bank although the exchange rate isn鈥檛 always that good or you can set up Wise which a lot of expats seem to favour, suggest either way send a token $10 to ensure the transfer happens the way way it should. Something to keep in mind is some Aussie banks limit transfers eg mine is limited to $30k AUD per transaction, also using wise transactions under 50,000 Baht is immediate, any amount greater will usually take 24 hours. Also your 800,000 Baht will need to mature in your Thai bank account for two months before immigration will recognise it. Good luck mate, it is worth it in the end 馃檪
Commonwealth bank will send sms messages for various transactions usually new or larger transactions but they also send the same verification code to your Netbank so if you bank with them and you have Netbank you鈥檒l be ok.
