Is it possible to switch a TR Visa, to a ED Visa (education visa) still, during COVID times?

and without having to re-enter the country?

This is our house in Udon Thani. I have been living in Thailand for 15 years now and have always had a Non-Immigrant O multiple entry visa based on marriage to a Thai national. Since things have changed since Covid-19, I am looking at a new strategy. I am thinking about living in Thailand six months out of the year and the US the other six months. Do I need to get a different visa, or is there one I can use for 6 months and pay the health insurance for that time instead of a one year policy?
