Hi everyone, I’m asking on behalf of my partner (he doesn’t use social media) and would really appreciate any experience sharing 🙏
1. Does mental health counseling / psychiatric treatment count as a valid medical reason for a DTV (medical soft power)?
2. Usually, is a licensed clinic or counseling center acceptable, or does it need to be a hospital?
3. Any recommended mental health clinics or hospitals in Chiang Mai that can issue English medical documents?
We’re planning to apply through the Thai Consulate in New York. If anyone has experience applying there under the medical category, insights would be greatly appreciated.
I’m planning to move to Thailand on the DTV softpower within the next 2 months and would really appreciate any advice or recommendations from those who’ve gone through the process recently.
We are moving from Ireland and I’m specifically seeking mental health support in Bangkok. I have a CPTSD diagnosis and will need longer-term treatment ideally with a psychiatrist or counsellor who has experience in trauma and expat care. Also needs to be in English.
Has anyone here been granted a DTV visa for reasons related to mental health treatment? I’d love to hear about your experience if you’re comfortable sharing. Any hospital or clinic recommendations (public or private) and specific doctors you’ve found helpful would be amazing.
Also, my partner is applying as well, and is looking for recommendations for Muay Thai training in Bangkok.
Thanks so much in advance and I’m looking forward to hearing from you all.
