Does anyone know if Phetchabun immigration requires a hand drawn map of your home/location for 1 year extension of a Non O Retirement visa ( not marriage visa). Thanks

I came in on a 90 day Non O E-Visa Visa issued by Thai Embassy in Washington DC with the intent of getting a Non O Marriage Visa. We went to the Thai Government Center (previously post said Consulate - wife's term) in CM with our Marriage Certificate issued by the Thai Embassy Washington DC. The young lady at the CM Thai Consulate said that we could not use it as it was more than 6 month old. Getting that Marriage Certificate was a process of going to the Virginia Dept. of Vital Certificates, then to Virginia Secretary of State for a stamp, then to the U.S. State Department Washington, DC for their stamp and finally to the Thai Embassy Washington DC. Thai Embassy Washington, DC issued the Thai Marriage Certificate 12 years ago. We did this in order to get a Thai Passport for our daughter. Due to the issues of getting another certified marriage certificate quickly/easily I decided to go with a Retirement Visa. Got my bank account and deposited 800,000 Baht for 62 days, filled out both the TM86 and TM87, copies of Passport pages, E-Visa, bank book and bank statements from K Bank showing more than 800,000 transferred . Statements from my US Bank showing the money transferred out matching the Baht received by Kbank. I let the money “cure” for 62 days before going to Immigration for my Non O Retirement Visa.

At Immigration, I gave the young lady my stack of papers in order as the appointment confirmation email had instructed. She looked at them and said that I filled out the wrong forms. She said that my E-Visa from the Thai Washington DC Embassy said Marriage.

After 20+ minute discussion between 2 officials they determined that I needed to speak with the lady in the colorful shirt. After a 15 minute discussion with her, she said to go out through Chiang Khong and come back on a tourist visa and then she could help get me through the process. Cost 22,000 Baht to get it through with a Non O and not a Non AO, which she says the Non OA will require health insurance.

It seems that my farang friends say, “that’s the way things get done here, just pay the agent”. Thai friends say not to pay it and make the system work without paying people off. Seems the Thais want to get corruption out of the system.

My questions to the Visa Community are:

If I leave through Chiang Khong and come back again on a 30 day tourist visa, what form or forms do I need to fill out in order to get a Non O Retirement Visa.

1. TM.86 or TM.87 or other document(s)?

2. Just pay the agent the 22,000?

3. We live in a different province, but can I go to CM Immigration and not be sent back to my wife’s province again for the process?

4. What triggers a Non OA instead of a Non O visa?

Thanks in advance for your advice and I hope that this helps others in the future.

What is acceptable for evidence of the monthly 65k THB bank deposits originating from US Social Security with a Non O Retirement? I’ll have 18+ months of deposits on my next extension of stay.

Hi all.

If entering Thailand on a Non O Retirement 90 day visa, are you expected to have a return flight booked to be able to enter the country, even though your intention is to apply for a 1 one year extension prior to the expiry of your 90 day visa?

Also, how do you apply for a multiple exit/entry permit once your 1 year extension has been granted?

Thank you.

Hello. Currently living in Thailand on a Non Imm ED visa. I’d like to change to a retirement visa next month. I have the required funds in a Thai bank account.

1. Will I have to leave the country to apply? (Maybe I need to have a non imm O before I can apply?

2. If so, anyone with experience of foreign Thai embassies abroad that can recommend where I might go?

I ask because I’ve heard so much contradictory information and the odd horror story. I’m told it is possible to do without leaving the country too?

It’s all a bit confusing to me…

Thanks in advance for any suggestions and advice you can offer.

Today I went into the Chiang Mai Immigration office next to the airport to get the up to date information regarding requirements for the application to change a visa from Tourist to a Non O for Retirement. I was of the belief that the CM office did not require proof of foreign remittance. However, if previously they didnt, it seems they now do so. The document states:

Financial Guarantee:

5.1 A guarantor letter from a bank in Thailand

5.2 Photocopy and original of bank book from a bank in Thailand showing that balance in account not less than 800,000 baht (the bank book must be updated until the present date

and 5.3 A document proving of foreign remittance

(there is also an option of a guarantor letter from ones embassy regarding pensions etc but this is not the route I would take so not relevant to this discussion.

My question is this:

My Bangkok bank book shows my transfers as FTTs... which i believe stands for "Foreign Telegraphic Transfers"

Would that be enough proof for the I/O that the funds have come from overseas?....

Or does this mean that I need to get some other proof document?

I see that "Wise "can generate statements which seem quite handy ..can focus on the Thai baht "jar" as they call it and can even generate officially "stamped" statements of the jar up to the previous year ... Should i just print this out and add it to the mix?

Does anyone have recent experience regarding lodging this Non O over 50 retirement application in the Chiang Mai office that may shed some light on this.

I also have an online appointment booked. But am unsure of how to access this. Does one have to go through the document vetting proceedure outside, (surely not)...but how and where does one go to to be awaiting ones appointment ..straight into the main office or? Do they just call out your name at around the allotted appointment time?

Hi everyone.

I entered last week on a re-entry permit for a 90 day UK issued Non O Retirement visa on a British passport. My visa runs out on 17 October 2022. I am in Pattaya.

Am I right in thinking that to apply for 1 year Non O Retirement I need to take the following to the Immigration after 18 September:

1. Copy of my 3 month Visa letter

1. TM 30 from my hotel

1. Letter from Bank confirming the 800k thats been there for more than 3 months. Letter should be dated within 7 days of application. - can I get this instantly from the Bangkok Bank branch nr immigration or has to be ordered a day in advance?

1. Bank book updated on the morning of the visit to immigration. The balance per bank book should match the Bank letter.

1. 2 sets of photocopies of all used pages in passport and all the above documents.

1. A couple of photos.

Grateful if someone can confirm or point out anything I have missed.

Thanks!

Joe
