Question about Non O retirement visa, on a year extension that expires second week of November. I won’t be in Thailand to submit paperwork for another year extension at the Jomtien Immigration Office by then. I know I will have to apply again when I get back to Thailand. Do I need to visit the Immigration Office in Jomtien to cancel this extension before I leave? When I return to Thailand next year, do I enter on 30 day visa exempt and start the process for Non O retirement visa over, will there be any fines? Just want to do this correctly and cheers to all.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the process of extending their Non O retirement visa before leaving Thailand. They want to know if they need to cancel their current extension prior to their departure and how to reapply for the visa upon returning to Thailand, including any potential fines. A comment suggests that they can apply for an extension 30 days in advance, clarifying that cancellation of the current extension is not necessary and that reentry on a visa-exempt basis is an option.

you can apply up to 30 days early if that helps? no you do not need to cancel your current extension, yes you can come back on visa exempt, apply for a non-o and then subsequent extension.

But not in Chiang Rai or Mae Sai. They say that there is no such thing as an in country Non O visa.

You will be fine...go to Jomtien immigration office... they will allow you to get your extension 45 days in advance... even 60 days with explanation. I've done it before with 60.

Confirm it can be done 60 days in advance in Jomtien with an explanation, I just did it in March.

, You definitely want to ask them, bringing your travel information.

Jomtien has a 30-day application window in advance. If I remember correctly, Jomtien can give you extra days in the application window in case you show proof that you will not be in Thailand the whole of the standard 30-day application period. It could be up to 40 days in advance or so.
