I'm here in Thailand halfway through a 2 month tourist visa, I've had 800k in bank for ages now, and I'm over 50.

Can I get a Non O visa from immigration to start my extension based on retirement? How easy is it in Pattaya or should I go to an agent? Advice appreciated.

Yep. You need to apply for the non imm O first. I believe you just need to prove the 800,000k was transferred from abroad. After the 90 days you get with the visa runs down you can apply for the 1 year extention of stay.

Its a very easy process. Did mine the other week. All done in an hour.

Check also the Pattaya City Expats Club website. I got all the info from there. Very comprehensive. A bit of homework, but it is worth the effort. You will save lots of money. ;-)

If youโ€™ve had the money in the bank for the last two months then I would just apply with immigration and not use an agent.

The money also needs to stay in your account after your visa has been done.

@Bim ******
can I do that at Jomtien immigration?

Yes. I did it in Jomtien. Go there and ask them again exactly what documents you need, how many copies of each, etc. Not difficult. Just do it. Once you will have done it, you will know for the future.
