What steps should I take after my Thailand Workcation Visa was rejected?

Hello Folks,

I just received a visa rejection email from the Thai Embassy in Dhaka. I applied under the Workcation Visa category on June 22, and today, instead of moving forward from “Pending Document Check,” it went straight to Visa Rejected.

Not sure what I might have missed! But I can ensure you that all documents and the input on e visa portarl was correct and legit.

Here’s what I submitted:

✅ Bank statements and solvency certificate (with more than the required amount, over 6 months) with regular tranjactions.

✅ Employment confirmation letter and an LLC company report from my employer (I work with them via Upwork). Been working for that company for the last 3 years..

✅ Upwork income certificate for the last 12 months.

✅ Freelancer ID issued by the Bangladesh government.

✅ All other regular documents (residency proof, air ticket, hotel booking, etc.)

Do you think I should apply again? If yes, when would be the right time?

Any advice or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Happy traveling, everyone!

Thank you.

Was it a personal bank account, savings or checking typing account? Workation means you work for a company remotely, but actually you are just a contractor/freelancer? Can you explain your company work relationship a bit? You need a letter stating that you can work remotely and specifically in Thailand. Do you hold a Bangladesh passport? I'd contact the embassy and try to glean exactly where your application failed in their eyes.

It was my personal savings account.

My contract is through Upwork, and I have been working as a web developer for the same company for the last three years. I also attached a cover letter along with an employment confirmation letter from my employer, stating that I am allowed to work remotely from Thailand.

And yes, I hold a Bangladeshi passport.

Thank you!

strange and sorry to hear that what appears as an intelligently put together application with the basic requirements has been tossed. I do hope they respond to you with some insight as to their decision.

Btw, I already emailed them, I do emailed them before reagarding some informations, but they never replied back! I might have to go there physically at the embassy and ask. Not sure if they will agree to meet and talk without any appointments! Anyway, finger crossed.

This is my advise - proof of funds has to be in chequing account. No solvency certificate needed.

Using Upwork might have complicated things, because the employment letter is from that company as your employer, but you are a freelancer. Some people categorize freelancers as self employed.

I would create a company, and re-apply as self employed. Provide proof of owning your freelance business.

Best of luck!

That is how I got my DTV last year. I am self employed. All I did was provide Bank statement with proof of 500k baht in acount, income tax, proof of company ownership, proof of current residency and flight. Was approved in 3 days.

Also include a letter describing your job, and how you can work remotely. One of my requirement was income of $80k a year. Make sure you include proof of that as well.

You just have to keep trying. The US embassy told me to change cards, change browsers, try different computer, clear your cookies. It took many tries over several days until

It went through. It turned out that it was the Thai banks that were denying it. Very frustrating!

I just had mine rejected too. I was applying for a tourist visa. My paperwork was alright and I answered all the questions in the interview. I was rejected just exactly like this and no reason was given as to why I was rejected at all.

Ryhan Rakib I just got the message this Tuesday 29th July, It was so heartbreaking and I decided not to apply again. But I don't know how long you can wait to reapply. Maybe you should wait for at least a month

Maybe—I’m not sure either, but I’m thinking of applying for a single-entry TR visa first before applying for the DTV again. Still not sure though, it’s frustrating! :)

Ryhan Rakib very frustrating. Thailand is not making it easier. No feedback or reason as to why the rejection occurred and no advice or suggestion from them. It's so hard.

System makes complicated because of network System between countries. A System must be placed for countries to access the visa systems.

I had a Thai e-visa rejected in Australia because they asked for one middle NAME, not name(s), so I left off my second middle name. They said it did not match the name in my passport.

likely your application was cancelled, not rejected. Cancelled application it's usually due to biodata error on your main passport page, a rejected application is usually due to insufficient documents.
