I am doing my extension based on retirement tomorrow, I got a letter from my Bank today, proving I have over 800000 bht in my bank, it's been there since last June, I hadn't used my bank book for 18 months as I had been in England, so it only shows transactions over the last couple of weeks, do I need to get a bank statement to prove I have had money in my account for the last 2 months?

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster is seeking advice on whether they need to provide a bank statement showing their funds for the last two months for their retirement visa extension application, given that they have over 800,000 baht in their account but have not updated their bank book in 18 months. Community members suggest that while a recent bank letter is important, specific statement requirements can vary based on the individual’s visa type and how long their funds have been in the account. Although some suggest providing 12 months of transaction history, others clarify that for a new application like the OP's, recent bank statements showing sufficient funds for just the past couple of months may suffice. It's recommended to update the bank book and obtain documents from the bank just prior to the immigration appointment.

Best to CYA and get a 3 month statement from your bank plus the letter up to 7 days prior and update your passbook on the day you go to the IO.

Okay, people; the O/P stated (in a subsequent comment) they just arrived on a NEW 90 day Non-O visa in January.

That means they do NOT need the 12 months print out of the previous year's transactions

That is would only be required when you get another years extension using banked money after using banked money the year before for your extension.

Also, note that most IMM. offices prefer to see the letter not more than a few days old, and also the bank-book updated on the day you apply..

I got the letter today, and then put 100 bht in my account, I will take that out tomorrow, then update the bank book, before I go to immigration

this year on the day I went to do my extension I added 100 baht but it didn’t show up on my statement that day . I have had over 1million . I had to wait for my statement to match my bank book lol I don’t even think they wanted to see my bank book but I’ll know for next year NOT to make a transaction day of But this is in Maehongson so we know they can all be different

I believe that the rule has changed and you need a 12 month statement

sorry, if your statement shows the seasoned funds for 2 months no problems. Just remember to update your balance monthly for the future

If you've not regularly updated your bank book they normally give a consolidation of the past 3 months, i.e. total ins and total outs, and the Immigration guys can normally work out if you could have dropped under the 800k during that 3 month period. If you "could" have then you'll need a detailed line by line statement that your local branch should be able to provide (for a small fee). If you do need longer than 3 months, they normally refer back to head office and it'll take a few days/week (plus a larger fee).

As long as there is no way the balance could have dropped below 800k you will (should be) OK. So if your book shows an "opening" balance of 1MM and you've had less than 200k in total of withdrawals, then you cannot have dropped. But if you've had say 300k of withdrawals, plus 300k of deposits, then you "could have" dropped below - they have no way to be sure so you'll need a detailed statement.

I have had over a million bht in my account since June, so hopefully a statement for the last 3 months will be ok, I have until April 9th to do it, just wanted to get it done early

British passport, do I need 12 months balances, as I have just arrived (January) on a non O?

@Mark **********
NO you do NOT need 12 months of detail transactions.

However I would ask them to print the last 3 months of the detail transactions just to be safe (because as people pointed out updating your bank book is only gonna print a summary of money in, money out).

The good news is the bank can print that 3-6 months of detail transactions while you wait.

Yes...get the updated ...usual bank letter showing your account balances for the past 12 months.
