TLDR : Answer Summary
The requirement for a bank statement proving a £5000 balance for 6 months when applying for the STV visa to Thailand has been confirmed by several users in the comments, indicating that this is still necessary. However, there are mentions that different embassies or consulates may interpret the requirements variably, and it's advised to stay updated with their latest guidelines.

Not a requirement anymore, but ambassies or consulates can use different interpretation. Bettter to travel with visa exception ass you can convert inside country, STV cannot...If you are planning to stay longtime..

You will not be allowed to travel outside the Uk by your government for tourist purpose... First deal with your own government before you deal with requirements other countries....

Happy with your reply... I just don't like to give wrong advice...If you like Lisa here advice as she lives in Tao but traveled in 11/'20 to the states... We know that the UK is not so trustworthy anymore if it comes to agreements... Also happy to see that your arrogancy will end to travel in EU and need a visa .... Before you traveld without an ID or Passport across EU and find it a right .... As if UK people are exept any laws..555 the Royal family shows it all.....

Just read your legal government statements.. If you like to take the risc.. Hear many stories that people are send back home as they start to check more. But obey legal rules it's all up to you... Will laugh louder when you lost your money and have to pay a fine... If you like to declare a fake reason up to you....

very few have been stopped. Mainly lies & scaremongering in the press. The only legal bit, is to complete the form. The travel bits are only guidelines and not enforcable. And there are many reasons to travel. A whole list of Exemptions. You'd have to be pretty stupid not to find a valid reason.

Whats a STV?

I think as long as it shows 5k is there it’s fine but might be wrong

Yep! My friend in aus is applying and it’s the same requirement

I never did STV but i guess yes. They cancelled long time ago the 12k or something same high amount requirements... 5k is reasonable for STV especially because u can extend 2 times so you can spend 270 days in Thailand.
