Hello, just a quick and simple question. Looking to get an ED Visa in Vientiane and I have all the documentation ready. Now, about the Bank Statement, is there a rule about how old it needs to be? I have a official signed by the bank mannager, but it's 1 month old. Is this enougth or need to be the same day or same week? Thanks!

Update: Or they asks for see my mobile App? Not sure if they require in paper or also in live.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for an ED Visa in Vientiane, candidates typically need a bank statement that is no more than one month old. Although some commenters suggest that the statement must be dated shortly before the application, others confirm that a one-month-old statement is generally acceptable. Additionally, printed statements are preferred, as mobile app views are not considered valid proof at the consulate.

James Miller yes, 100% sure. On my case I use it to visit Vietnam and Cambodia. And it was a good deal, really good time. Now focus to get that ED Visa to start studying soon

James Miller as my papers were not ok (multiple levels) I didn’t made the Visa on HCM, and waited for new papers from the MOE that are just ready

...Have you obtained an Ed Visa from Vientianne before?

If so when was it approved?

...Did you have another Ed Visa issued by another Consulate before?

...Do you have prior tourist visas or visa exempt entries in your passport ?

Vientiane should be OK for first timers.

Beto Shumway lets ask

what he thinks about your chances of getting an Ed visa at Vientianne.

He recently posted...re Vientianne:

Suitable for apply Non B (only one in one full year),

Non ED (only one in one full year & cover letter must only indicate your specific level & show bank balance THB 20,000.-),

Non O Single Entry (but no retirement) if married to Thai or support Thai Child (if back to back application, they will ask show money THB 200,000.- in Thai Bank Account).

For application Non O Volunteer first time (if back to back need guarantee letter from said Ministry equivalent to department level).

Tourist Visa, in case you had previously some Tourist visa your application will be considered more carefully. Vientiane is now, in most cases, asking for proof of funds, Book Bank with balance THB 20,000.- up OR print out from Bank account from home country value USD 700.-up. Onward air ticket is not required.

James Miller no ED visa before. First time.

I have 3 visa exempts on passport. No other visa in my passport. Multiple stamps from other countries because I travel a lot for tourism

100% Real reason is to learn the language

Dont worry about how old your bank account, but do take a note that they will need at least 14 days for your bank statement, bring your book and the copies each page of your bank statement

Take that statement and a print out of your most recent bank statement just to be sure.

Mobile apps can not be used for proof at a Consulate or Embassy or at Immigation Checkpoint to enter a country.

Thanks, it just was a thougth. Anyway I have my papers, but not sure how long they need to be dated.
Barry ******
Vientiane does not ask for anything other than the paperwork from the school.

It’s also documented on their site that it’s not a requirement for ED

You did make an appointment I hope.

There are many reports of people looking to get an ED visa that has been requested to have proof of founds, as you can read on the group. It's not listed oficially on the website, but it's getting a common practice.
Alexia *********
the proof of found is if someone come as your guardian an a non immigrant O visa then he/she needs to show he/she can provide to your need with 500K on a Thai bank account.
Barry ******
if it is a requirement they will mention it on the consulate site and the amounts needed
Barry ******
No more than a month old I guess

@Barry *****
Correct, but how long can be dated?
Barry ******
The requirements should be all listed there but if they do request a statement like other consulates any printout showing the balance and your name is sufficient.

I'm not sure about your comment. But I readed on the group that proof of having funds is required.
Amaël ******
I don't know about Vientiane specifically, but bank statements usually need to be at most one month old on the day of your application.

I'm sure someone with direct experience of that consulate will be able to confirm if that rule applies there.
