TLDR : Answer Summary
A retirement visa application in Thailand now requires a 1-year bank statement showing a balance of at least 800,000 THB for 2 months prior to application. Additionally, for the duration of the previous extension, at least 400,000 THB must be kept in the bank.

and that is a policy that the individual immigration office sets so there is no answer other than what they tell you.

AND you can get a year worth of statements printed (some do it in batches of 3 months, some in 6 months) it usually takes a couple weeks (although I have seen them do it on the spot).

Good Luck the place that has your answers is the immigration office that your father uses

If your dad applied for his current Extension of Stay after 1 March 2019, he must show that the 800.000 Thb stayed in the bank for at least 3 months after the approval and the rest of the year not less than 400.000 Thb. But to apply again he need the 800.000Thb in the bank at least 2 months prior his application date.

Something they just ask me.

Regardless of how many months the statement should be.

Does it have to be no more than 24hrs old.

This is for retirement visa.

I know for my marriage visa I had to get on the day I applied for the year.

I can not help you with that one. At this time people start to apply for a new Extension of Stay after the rule change, I did not see reports of how the bank statement must be. Best is to contact Immigration and ask. Let us know.

yes.

But now the 400 all year.

Before he would only get a bank statement for 3 months. So now the STATEMENT is it a year to show the 400 was there or is the bank book showing it enough.

All the rules I understand. Itโ€™s just the statement I am not sure about now
