At Immigration Div 1 now to transfer extension of stay, retirement, to new passport.

The lady at the front where you get your first ticket number asked if I had bank statement!?!

Is this right? Nowhere I have looked says I need a bank statement to transfer to new passport.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user at Immigration Division 1 questioned the necessity of providing a bank statement for transferring their retirement extension to a new passport. Comments revealed mixed experiences, with some stating that the requirement for a bank statement is not formally documented in government guidelines, while others suggested it has become an unofficial practice for verifying compliance with financial requirements. One comment highlighted the discrepancy in clarity regarding these requirements, emphasizing the need for better communication from immigration officials.

I have a question.

What is the problem with Immigration asking for proof of funds in a Thai bank account?

If you have it, what's the issue. If not then you may have a problem.

In my opinion!

It is not a question of having the funds..... It is the fact that the requirements listed on the back of the form say nothing of providing bank statement nor does it on any gov. website or agency website.

If it is a requirement it should be advertised clearly so that individuals can come prepared to the immigration office.

Some people travel long distances to get to their local immigration.

you realize that's the generic transfer an existing stamp to a new passport stamp for EVERYONE no matter what extension they're on. It's not a "retirement extension using banked money method" form ๐Ÿ˜•

and remember as I said, ALL things you do at the immigration office have that clause built in to the rule that says "OR other documentation as requested by the officer" <- that is the "we can ask for anything" clause

Point taken.

when I got a new passport, immigration (at CM) never asked for anything and did the transfers for free in 30 mins.

that could be anything!! Is one supposed to bring a library of docs just in case!!!

The IO was very apologetic but I sat in Kasikorn for 2 hours just to get a two week print out if my account.

IF you used banked money method (the 800K baht in a thai bank) and are switching passports they want to see that you still meet the seasoning requirements;

800K baht in your account for 3 months after you got the extension granted and then the balance not going below 400K baht the rest of the year until 2 months before your next extension when it goes back to 800K

They have been asking for bank statements for a good while now

It's why I have been telling people IF it's close to your yearly extension application just do it when you get your new extension don't go separately

THEY the immigration officers you sit in front of say you need it in Bangkok when you go to transfer a yearly extension based on retirement to a new passport when you used the banked money method
