Hi! A couple questions about obtaining a retirement visa:

I currently have a 1 year Non-O extension based on marriage that expires in March 2026. I’m considering transitioning to a retirement visa sometime between now and then.

My first question is re the 800k THB in-bank. I understand it needs to be seasoned in a Thai bank account for 2 months before application. I’ve read conflicting descriptions of what can be done with the 800k once the retirement visa has been approved/ stamp placed in passport though.

Some have said that the 800k needs to be kept in the account as is throughout the year (even after the application process has been completed). Is that correct? This makes no sense to me. Rather, I believe once you have received the retirement stamp, you can start withdrawing funds from said account.

When, can one begin to withdraw from their 800k deposit retirement requirement after the retirement visa has been received?

Also, I already have about 200k in my Thai account. Can I just Xfer an additional 600k from my foreign account to meet the requirement, or do I have to make a single 800k transfer from a foreign account. (I know this is immigration office specific. I would be applying at the Chiang Mai office.)

Hi, wife and I plan to move to Thailand next year on a non O retirement visa. We will get the 90 day non O visa in our home country (USA) first, my question is the origin of the 800K deposit per person, must my wife’s deposit come from a USA bank account in her name or can each of our 800k deposits come from an account in my name only?

I tried to reach out to the Thai embassy in DC for an answer but no response yet.

Thank you!

Hello Group, I am here on a Non-O based on marriage, also have a Thai child and arrived April 7th, 2025. Unfortunately I didn't get the 400K deposited into my Bangkok Bank until April 29th. Fast forward to June 19 and had a medical emergency ( heart attack ), which caused me to dip into the 400k, bringing it down to around 100K. I am stamped 90 day until July 6th. I am guessing that this will be an issue at IO. I was planning on refilling my Thai bank account back up to 400K+, but wanted to consult the group first. Do I really have to start this whole process again? I am also hoping IO will take into consideration the medical situation and extend my initial 90 day, allowing me to stay and season the 400K. Will consider agent at this point. Please help!

🙄 Hi members.

Hit a big snag when doing E-visa..I'm 70 years old.

Been passed good to travel

By Doctors... this is where problems start.

Because I've had Major operations no insurance company wants to know me.

They all push me to Insurance Brokers who want a arm and leg... I'm applying for non immigrant OA..

It's asking for insurance policies..any way around insurance.. have funds to cover my self..plus the money you need for Bank.

Am I looking at wrong visa

Is there a better option.

Have home but can't live in it.

PS.. in Thai Girlfriend name

Thanks..

Hi,

I'm trying to determine when the 3 months has passed after being granted an extension of my retirement visa to be able to drop the funds deposited in my bank account to below 800,000 baht,

Is it from when the visa was granted, 17th December 2024 or 16th January 2025 when my new visa started?

Thanks in advance.

Hello all. I live in Bangna, Bangkok. I'm British here on NonO visa which expires on 18th March. I'm planning to apply for my Retirement Visa by myself. I have the funds in the account but just for a month now. I have TM30.

Which immigration office do I need to go to?

Any advice or tips will be helpful.

Thank you.
