TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion clarifies that while the Thai visa application process typically requires a bank deposit of 500,000 Baht, it may not be necessary for dependents. Several users shared experiences indicating that only the main applicant's financial statements were necessary, with one instance where a dependent's bank account was not needed at all. However, there are mentions of theoretical requirements stressing the importance of having a separate account for dependents to meet all criteria.

unless you plan to do a border run every 180 days or less, be very wary of getting the visa from a 'friendly' consulate.

The immigration office that you go to to extend the via might not be quite so friendly.

That’s true, for me is better border run, than apply for extension.

Me and my husband just applied in Jakarta and they only wanted his bank statements, I did bring mine just in case and they gave it back and said not needed.

I know one more case in Jakarta and they said they only need one bank statement. So it looks like Jakarta is friendly.

My friend's couple have recently obtained DTVs but his wife doesn't have own account. However it does need separate account to meet requirements in theory. It was done in Yangon, Myanmar.

each person has to have there own funds, same on all visas.

Maybe an oversight by issuing officer. But the account has to be in your name as well. Not even sure joint account is accepted, certainly not for visas in Thailand.
