Can a time deposit account meet the B400k marriage visa bank account balance requirement in Thailand?

Hi all,

Regarding the marriage visa B400k bank account balance requirement, does anyone know if this can be satisfied by a CD/time deposit account? Or does the money strictly have to be in a traditional checking or savings account?

Krungsri appears to have a very favorable 4yr CD rate that's also available to foreigners, so I'd much prefer my money not excessively depreciate in value if it has to sit somewhere for this.

Thanks in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post inquires about whether a time deposit account can fulfill the B400k bank balance requirement for a marriage visa in Thailand, as opposed to needing a traditional savings or checking account. Comments indicate that while the requirement is for funds to be in a regular account, some offices might accept a term deposit. It's also noted that the money must be in the account for two months prior to application and maintained until the visa is stamped for one year.

The money is only required in the account 2 mths before application and until stamped for a year.

Some offices may or may not accept a term deposit.

I don't believe that's right. I married my husband stateside, and we still have to Register the marriage with the local amphur office And he needs to meet the financial requirements for the marriage Visa.

no you didn't, fact! Makes no difference where you got married, still have to follow the same process. 400k in a local bank for 2 calendar months previous to applying.
