For "Thai family" extension of temporary stay:

"a security deposit of 400,000 THB in Thai Bank Account for at least 2 months prior to the visa application..."

Is this any special kind of deposit or is it defined as having a checking or savings account with at least this sum during that period?

TLDR : Answer Summary
For a Thai family extension of temporary stay, the requirement of a 400,000 THB security deposit can be met by maintaining a normal checking or savings account with this amount present for at least two months before applying. It is crucial to ensure the account is solely in the applicant's name and remains open until the visa application is processed, as authorities may ask for recent bank statements at the time of application.

Go to bank and tell them it’s for visa, if they don’t know then pick another bank.

Must be in your name with no co-signature also.

You can use a joint account. you just need double the amount of money.

they changed the directives I think. I already have 2 accounts, but I wanted to open another one at the same bank, despite having one in the same branch for years, they need a work permit, even if I have an annual family visa! then it depends on which bank and what directives they have.

Each bank branch has their own policy on what they need to open an account. Go to different branches until you find a bank that will open an account for you.

I'd make it easy and just say "I want to open a savings account".

That's all what a person needs to keep the money for seasoning requirements.

Be sure to keep the money on the bank until your 30 days under consideration is finished, cause they might ask you a new updated book bank when your 30 days are done and you come fo pick up your exrension

It's a normal checking/ savings account that a person opens at any of the large banks in Thailand.
