Question about 400K…

(First time applying for the non-O one year marriage visa in Thailand)

- I deposited 400K into my husband’s bank account two months ago.

- Yesterday, August 29th he updated the bank book and got the bank statement showing 400K, thinking that all was good for the marriage visa application. Then pullout 10K out, so his bank balance was at 390K. 🤬🤬🤬

- This morning, Aug 30th we submitted all the documents to apply for the Non-O marriage visa. We were told the bank book needs to be updated on the same day as the application date!!😓😨

- In the afternoon I transferred the 10K to his account and updated the bank book again.

The immigration officer recommended him to change the application to the custodian/guardian visa to our two half-Thai kids. (I’m not sure which term is used in English, in Thai is วีซ่าอุปการะบุตร). However I was told there was no guarantee if my husband’s visa will be approved due to the withdrawal of the money. I’m so confused!

- We registered our marriage in Thailand

- Two kids were born in Thailand

- We all live together in Thailand

Has anyone had experience with the same situation? I would appreciate if you could share your experience with me. (I’m kicking my husband’s ass in the meantime.)

In case his non-O guardian visa is not approved, what are other options?

• He got a one year non-o visa based on marriage from Suvannakhet

• He got the “60-day visiting family visa” which will be expired on Sep 2nd.

❓Can he get a non-o visa from Suvannakhet again?

❓Can he submit documents for non-o marriage visa again after the 400K is in his account for two more months ?

I know that the 800k for a retirement visa has to be maintained at 400k for something like nine months before increasing it to 800k two months before applying for the next extension. Is there a similar requirement for a marriage visa I.e. a minimum balance to be maintained for the nine months following an extension based on 400k?

I am Canadian citizen, normally live in Myanmar but for now, I am living in Chiang Mai, until things get sorted over there. I am thinking to travel from Chiang Mai to Laos soon to obtain a 90 days Non O visa based on retirement and one for my Burmese wife as accompanying spouse. I currently have a STV visa and multiple Covid extensions. 800 000 THB has been in the Bangkok bank for several months already. I also have a TM30 for the house I rent in Chiang Mai. What are other required documents I must show?

I need to know if USD$100 000 insurance is required for the Non O visa when applying in Laos. For each of us ?

Is the Non O actually the visa I need to get the 1 year extension later in Chiang Mai ? Is there an advantage in getting the Non O as opposed to entering the Kingdom on a regular tourist visa

Between Vientiane and Savannakhet, not sure which is the friendliest Thai visa office (least burdensome). Advise please.

I actually direct my questions to the page moderators as they know their stuff very well. People who have done similar can also leave a comment please.

Would anyone either be able to share or let me know where I can find a copy of the police order (in Thai) relating to the 400000 baht that must be in the bank for the yearly extension of stay based on Thai child? There is a new guy at Phuket immigration insisting on 2 months seasoning however I know there is no mention of seasoning in the police order for this extension.

Does it matter or do immigration check if the 2month 400K banked method amount is international transfer or locally transferred into Thai Bank account for Marriage Visa application and future extensions?

Hi guys, to apply for a 1-year marriage extension:

* Must have at least 400K in a Thai bank account for at least TWO months ( not 3 months like it has been claimed from some people) before going to the immigration office.

* The money can be transferred from abroad or from a Thai account ( I will do 300K from Transferwise since I already have other incoming transfer from other Thai accounts for more than 100K ).

Could you please confirm the above statements?

If the Non O stamps is expiring on the 15th of April is OK to have the balance +400K in the account around 10 of February or it's better to have it before?

Thank you 🙏

I have a question which, based on a brief search, does not appear to have been posed before.

I have just successfully extended my non-Imm O-A visa for a further 12 months, based upon having 800,000 THB in a Thai Bank account.

However next year I plan to extend based upon having 12 monthly deposits of minimum 65,000 THB income (international transfer).

My question is this: will I still be required to maintain the 800,000 THB for 3 months, and subsequently the 400,000 THB continuously for the following 9 months?

Thank you in advance.

I have had a retirement visa for about 10 years.

I always had 800,000bt in a Thai Bank for 3 months before renewal but now I hear it's got to be in for 3 months after as well, yet some say you have to have 400,000bt in for 3 months after. Does anyone know for sure.

I go to Jomtien immigration office
