I recently got my DTV in Jakarta using a medical appointment I made online. I just wanted to thank all the posters who provided the detailed information I needed, which allowed for my application process go very smoothly.

As a way to give back to this community, I'd like to just add an observation if you'd like your application process to go as smoothly as it did for me. Print out the visa application document from the Thai embassy in the country you plan on visiting. Fill it out completely before standing in line at the embassy.

Once I was allowed entry into the embassy, I was given a queue number. While waiting for my turn to go up to the application processing counter I saw several people, one of whom was the first in line, having to provide additional information, which unnecessarily prolonged their time at the embassy standing at the form-filling counter, which quickly got full. It took me no more than about 15 minutes from the time I got my queue number to the time I exited the embassy. Do yourself a favor and have all your forms and supporting documents ready before you head to the embassy and the process will go much more smoothly... 😉 All the best everyone!!

Just an update from a comment in a post some days ago, regarding extending Non-ED Visa at Chiang Mai.

Now it's mandatory to bring a copy of rental contract AND copy of first page of the landlord's Tabien Baan (property registration). My school informed me in advance and yes, the officer looked for it and signed it. In addition, the copy of TM30 was required (and signed) too.

In the good side of things, I showed up at 6:05 and get queue number #10. At 9:30 I was out with my extension. No more queueing at 2am in the night, it looks like the changes in the new office have worked well 😊

BTW, the Happy Queue system worked ok in my phone, always showing the current number and expected waiting time - the expected time is not so useful though.

Tod, Robert, just wanted to warn about the new requirement and to confirm the queue nightmare in Chiang Mai is a thing from the past. If you think it's not so Visa related feel free to close it 😉
