I recently applied for the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) as a Dutch national, under the Thai Soft Power Activities category (Muay Thai training). I submitted my application to the Thai embassy in The Hague, but unfortunately it was rejected.
Here’s what I submitted:
1. Biometric passport page
2. Recent passport photo
3. Bank statement (over 500,000 THB in my name, held for 3+ months)
4. Proof of residence
5. Muay Thai gym documentation
I initially uploaded the standard documentation provided by the Muay Thai gym. After submission, the embassy specifically asked for “a certificate issued to the school/gym from the Office of Boxing Sport Board, Sports Authority of Thailand.”
The gym was surprised, as they claimed this was already included. Still, they issued a new cover letter explaining their compliance with all relevant government bodies. I uploaded that — but even after submitting the extra explanation, the visa was rejected.
It seems the reason for rejection is linked to the Muay Thai documentation, despite all efforts.
My flight to Thailand is booked for September 1st, and I’m now unsure what to do:
1. Re-apply with another Muay Thai gym
2. Apply under the Workation category instead (I meet all requirements)
3. Go to Vietnam or another nearby country and apply from there
Has anyone dealt with a similar issue? Any advice would be hugely appreciated — especially before I spend another €350 on a new application.
Do any of you helpful people know a reliable site to get a booked /confirmed flight itinerary for visa without having to book and pay for an actual flight
