What should I do after my DTV visa application was rejected without explanation?
Hi guys!
I applied for a DTV visa from Berlin, Germany and after approximately one month it got rejected.
No reason was given.
Has anyone had a similar experience?
Can I appeal? Any official channel I could contact them and ask what was wrong in my application?
Or the only way is to apply again?

Sorry to hear you got rejected. An agent might be better this time around. They might notice an inconsistency with paperwork that you missed. Originally when I applied for my DTV the school I used to apply to didn’t include the letter portion of my Passport #. I got an email requesting correction (no indication what was wrong). I thoroughly inspected the paperwork submitted and found the missing letter from my Passport #, had the school correct it & got approved by the next day after resubmitting. Good luck with your 2nd attempt.

Amusing to see people actually bother to come and make things worse by defending the system in these DTV threads🤯 I think it’s absurd that they can just take your 350€ and not give any reason.
It would always be interesting to get more info about these rejections tho. Like did you have any issues with them not liking some of your docs or everything was perfectly fine and then they just reject?

I think most people here don't defend the system but accept it as it is.Worldwide applying for a visa means you don't get your fee refunded, and the embassy does not need to give you a reason when rejected.
You might not like that, but there are good reasons for this.
The fee is for processing, and giving you a reason might result in you changing documents and apply again, what is not something they want.

interestingly after emailing them requesting the reason of rejection I noticed that the status of my application in the system changed back to “Pending/Check”. So they did read my email and did start re-checking my application. Then in 3 hours or so the application returned into “Rejected” status.They did not send any message back to me though. So they intentionally did not respond back to my email😂 outrageous

I applied and waited for 2 weeks until they replied back asking for a colourful scan of my passport (I took a picture instead when applying), a photo of me taken at a professional photo studio and a letter from my employer stating I’m allowed to do home office from Thailand.I provided all 3 docs, waited for 2 more weeks and then just got notified of rejection

Sooo schade, I know of a case where the visa was rejected simply because of a spelling error in the name. Besides that, they don't care if you are a resident of a country; they want you to apply from your country of nationality.

It is clearly written on the Embassy website, that they do NOT give reasons when rejected, so it can only be you who haven’t done a proper research if you expected to get a reason of rejection.
Is is also clearly written that the 10.000 visafee is non-refundable.
If you had followed this group at least during the procession time of the visa, you would have seen it is a frequently answered question.

Had no problems with DTV (Workation) in Berlin, did it with FS Consulting in Pattaya.

As someone has already stated, you don't know why your application was rejected. You run the risk of repetition by simply applying again by yourself. Top DTV visa agents are Issa Compass and Thai Visa Centre. It would be money well spent for them to vet your application prior to resubmission.

All you can do is apply again, but add a cover letter explaining your situation and every single document you add.
Remember that the embassy staff aren't German, they don't go through your documents diligently. You have to explain everything to them as if they're 10 years old.

hi! Thank you for the reply.By adding a cover letter you mean merging a cover letter with a submitted document, correct? So that for example when they open the bank statement PDF, the first page they read is a cover letter and then they scroll down and see the bank statement, right?

yes, what Nikki said is what I mean.You need to literally explain every single document as if you're sending it to someone who has never seen these types of documents before.

I was approved by London embassy and I added a cover letter to every document. So yeah it’s a good idea to merge it into the pdf so the letter is at the start. With my bank statements I highlighted all of my incomings from work so they could clearly see it, explained what I did for work and got a letter from my company stating clearly that I would not be working with any Thai students or businesses to generate income (I teach online)

no, an agent for DTV, they'll apply anywhere for you, did for me

You can't appeal. You can apply and pay again but only if you're German or have a permanent resident card in Germany, as the rules changed recently
