Need Advice: DTV Visa Rejected – What Now?

Hi everyone,

I recently applied for the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) as a Dutch national, under the Thai Soft Power Activities category (Muay Thai training). I submitted my application to the Thai embassy in The Hague, but unfortunately it was rejected.

Here’s what I submitted:

1. Biometric passport page

2. Recent passport photo

3. Bank statement (over 500,000 THB in my name, held for 3+ months)

4. Proof of residence

5. Muay Thai gym documentation

I initially uploaded the standard documentation provided by the Muay Thai gym. After submission, the embassy specifically asked for “a certificate issued to the school/gym from the Office of Boxing Sport Board, Sports Authority of Thailand.”

The gym was surprised, as they claimed this was already included. Still, they issued a new cover letter explaining their compliance with all relevant government bodies. I uploaded that — but even after submitting the extra explanation, the visa was rejected.

It seems the reason for rejection is linked to the Muay Thai documentation, despite all efforts.

My flight to Thailand is booked for September 1st, and I’m now unsure what to do:

1. Re-apply with another Muay Thai gym

2. Apply under the Workation category instead (I meet all requirements)

3. Go to Vietnam or another nearby country and apply from there

Has anyone dealt with a similar issue? Any advice would be hugely appreciated — especially before I spend another €350 on a new application.

Thanks in advance!

Apply via Workcation. Why complicate things.

Why did you do soft power if you meet the workcation requirements?

Your gym needs to have an official Boxing Camp certificate, there are two versions and either of them works.

If your gym doesn’t have one (most of Muay Thai gym doesn’t have), AND even after the gym attempting to explain with embassy directly it rejected, then you’d change a gym with that cert to apply in your embassy instead.

Use yourvisa(.)nl and choose “spoed”. It’s a service that helps you with applying. You send your documentation to them and they double check everything and correct wrongs and then they will apply for you instead of you doing it yourself.

Mine was approved through their service in 2 working days, dutch passport.

Good luck!

At The Hague you need a special certificate issued by SAT … and letter which is quite complicated and take some times to do it with the ministry (gym needs to contact the SAT) If you don’t mind going to Vietnam, I recommend ☺️

Why didn't you name the gym, since it all hinges on their association and compliance?

there is an increase of around 140 Pct of Muay Thai gyms and agencies for DTV since the start of this year, clear that Thai government becomes more strict

More strict or they just found a way to "earn" more money. Same same, but different.

what about shenghen visa forAsian people, that has nothing to do with money ?

We do not disapprove them just in so they can apply a second time and pay double. Don't act like Thai people aren't know to scam and add a foreigner fee ever so randomly. Get you head out of your @rse!

How many months of Muay Thai training did you show in your DTV Visa Application ?

They need the govt sports certification not a letter saying they comply. Did you see the certificate and documentation from the gym?

What documents did the gym give you?

- cover letter

- Muay Thai package & invoice

- the gym certificate for soft power

- Boxing license

- gym business license

- gym boss - ID for boxing and normal ID

I had a similar issue in taipei, actually they asked a lot of certificates that could prove my gym was official and blah blah blah. Wildcat gym owner got in touch with the embassy and she prepared all the documents requested (taipei is well known for being this strict, reason why most of the gyms refuse to deal with them now).
