Today i extended my car and motorcycle license in Krabi at the Provincial Transport Office.
I got a 2 years extension. (Tried to convince her to give me 5 years but was not possible. I think it might depend on the person you happen to go through)
Booked an appointment online via DLT Smartqueue app. There was a lot of availability to my surprise. No weeks long waiting…overall it took 2.5 hours today from parking lot to hold my new licenses in my hands. I could have saved 1 hour if i would have watched the 1 hour long video online before…. But it wasnt in the written requirements. so yeah, i had to sit and watch a thai video and wait 😀 I recommend watching it beforehand. DLT Learning website, need to register and sign in.
Cost:
310 Baht for both licenses (200+100+5+5)
150 Baht for medical certificate (local doctor)
Additionaly i needed a certificate of residence which you get from the Immigration Office. This one i got for free (20mins effort at IO).
I had 2 copies each:
- Passport biodata
- Passport last entry stamp page
- Medical Certificate
- Certificate of Residence
+ old licenses and original passport
also provided my visa printout but wasnt required.
Had to go through the quick reaction and vision test. Easy.
In the end a very easy and pretty quick process. Same steps like when you get a new license / convert home license and IDP to thai license.
