TLDR : Answer Summary
The Non-Immigrant Visa O-X allows long-term stays in Thailand for up to 5 years but comes with specific requirements, including maintaining a bank balance of 3 million baht and having approved health insurance. Many users have questioned its practicality compared to other visas like the Non-Immigrant O-A, which may offer easier conditions and options for employment. It's important to consider personal needs, insurance costs, and processing experiences shared by fellow expats when evaluating this visa.

That O-X is NOT a common visa (at least not that I've seen). I posted a while back about someone who got it and that was the FIRST one issued by the thai consulate where he got it.

Two issues are (1) 3m you need to leave in a Thai bank account for the duration earning very low interest, (2) a particular set of limited insurance policies that may be inflated.

If you are happy lodging the money at 1.5% or so and with the insurance options, I don't think there's any other gotchas, these are the issues.

seems Ok no harder than any other and you get 5 year. Just looking at options the O-A is the norm but if this cuts down on any hassle for 5 year then it might work. just want to relax on my time off, Hope someone has got one and feed back. plus the insurance should be something I should have

Why not just get a year-long, multi-entry Non-Immigrant Type O-A <- (note that it is an A at the end not an X). That visa only requires proof of 800K an you can get it from the thai consulate in your country. It does require a police back ground check and a medical certificate, BUT it does not have near the hoops to jump thru as the O-X visa does. And if you play the dates right on the O-A visa you can get almost 2 years of stay in country out of it.

you cannot work on that visa, and you need to bank 3 million baht in an account AND you need to carry health insurance from one of the thai providers listed.

Here are the requirements from the Thai consulate in Washington DC
