What are the requirements for US citizens applying for a tourist e-visa for their minor children?

Looking for tourist e-visa advice for US citizens.

After getting to the final document-dump page of the e-visa application, I had questions about several of them. The main questions concern how to do these for our minor children (11 and 13 years old).

#3: Declaration: Do I sign the declaration for them? They can't legally sign something like this in the US.

#5: Proof of accommodation/invitation letter: We are renting a house that is owned by an expat living in Thailand. She has never had to write an invitation letter before. What needs to go in that letter?

#6: Financial evidence: again, what to upload for my children's application? My financial documents, or a letter I wrote saying they are my children?

#7: Confirmation of residence if not applying in country of residence: I don't know why this is an obligatory upload. I'm a US citizen applying to the Chicago consulate, so this question doesn't apply to me but I have to upload something.

#8: Travel records: Do they want pictures of every stamp page in my passport, or just the ones with stamps in them?

#9: Document confirming residency for application to consulate: again, what to upload for kids?

Thanks for any help! I used the search function and didn't find answers for the e-visa system, so my apologies if these have been answered before!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A US citizen seeks guidance on the tourist e-visa application process for their minor children, focusing on specific document requirements such as declarations for minors, proof of accommodation, financial evidence, and others. Users in the comments provide insights on the visa requirements for minors, notably mentioning that they may not need a visa for short stays and raising questions about the specific consulate being used for the application.

Which Thai Embassy or Consulate in the USA are you viewing the Thai Visa requirements for the tourist visa?

Los Angeles

Chicago

New York City

the Thai Consulate Officer's in Chicago are most friendly. Oklahoma is my home state and Chicago's our designated Thai Consulate.

If US citizen/passport, the children don't need a visa, they can enter visa exempt. Same as you the adult. How long are you planning to stay, you can get 45 days on arrival visa exempt and extend another 30 days in country for 1900 baht.

We're staying for 60 days, which is why we're applying for the tourist visa. I have read that applying for the e-visa makes more sense because it's less of a hassle than renewing while we are in Thailand.

trust me, easier and cheaper to come visa exempt, and you won't have to get extensions for your children as they can't be fined or banned for overstay.

it's a simple visit to Thai immigration office where you are living to get the 30 day extension of stay.

Plus...by having 75 days approval to stay vs 60 days, but IF you need to delay your departure due to sickness or accident, you already have added 15 days to recover.

Eric... I have two questions...

... Which Thai Visa are you applying for?

... How long are you really planning on staying in Thailand?

60, 75, 90 days or longer ???

The tourist e-visa that allows 60 day stays, which is how long we're staying.

thanks for your reply.

May I suggest that you keep it SIMPLE.... forget about applying for the Thai tourist visa..

And arrive into Thailand VISA EXEMPT.

That will give you 45 days stamp on arrival plus one 30 day extension of stay from your local Thai immigration office for 1900 Thai baht. = 75 days stay in Thailand.

By doing that, you avoid the cumbersome Evisa application online.

I had another question. We are planning on taking your advice, but our flight out of Thailand is 60 days from our arrival. Do I need to have an outbound flight within that 45-day period? Or if I tell immigration that I am planning on renewing will they still let me in with my existing outbound flight?

it's NOT the Thai immigration you need to be concerned about... it's whether or not your airline will allow you to fly to Thailand with no departure ticket from Thailand within 45 days of your arrival. ASK your airline.
