TLDR : Answer Summary
The post inquires about the existence of an FAQ for a group focused on visa-related questions. Comments clarify that individuals often misunderstand visa terms and that regulations can vary for different visa types. One user mentions the Multi-Entry Tourist Visa (METV) that allows stays of 60 days at a time and suggests that visa runs may be necessary every 60 days.

Thanks for the quick reply. So if I understand you correctly that would mean I'd need to also budget to leave every 60 days right? This is what people refer to as a visa run I assume.

every entry can be extended once for 30days, so it worked like the old triple entry visa. A Multiple Entry Tourist Visa allow unlimited entries within the 6 month validity period. Each entry is good for 60 days and each entry is extendable by 30 days. After a 90 day period is up you can join a border bounce to activate another 60 day. If you enter before the ENTER BEFORE date you get another 60 days do another 30 day extension , so you can stay up to 270 days, same as the triple entry before. In theory you can also get an addl 7days extension denied after the initial 30 days are completed, but you need to pay another THB1,900.-

Can one apply for a 30 day extension (under a 6-month METV) more than once? My first border bounce is due on the 26th of this month and I wanted to get an extension until December when I am flying out of the country anyway. I also plan to file for an extension near the end of my visa validity to get that extra 90 days. So my question is can I only file a 30-day extension one time during my stay? Thank you!

correct, (y) there are two different things commonly called a visa run.

I break them down this way;

border-bounce - go to a border, stamp out of thailand, stamp in&out of another country and stamp back into thailand. You do this to either get a visa exempt entry or to activate another entry on a multi-entry visa.

visa-run - where you go to a thai consulate in another country and buy a visa for thailand.

@Ma**
, there is a 6 month METV <- multi-entry tourist visa that allows stays of 60 days at a time for the validity of the visa (6 months from the date it's issued). You get it in your home country from a thai consulate before you come here. It has specific requirements as far as financials and onward travel but people can get almost 9 months of stay out of that visa..

Wow, you rock! Thanks.

@Al**
, you need to check with the thai consulate that you're applying at to see if you can get the visa or not.

As a rule you can get it only at a thai consulate in the country where your passport is from. In the US it requires a bank statement showing 7000 dollars in your account (to support yourself while you are here 6 months).

Check the website of the consulate you're applying at and see what they require..

Hi Tod, could you tell me if I might be able to get this 6 month visa directly after my third tourist visa in a row ending mid January?

That’s what I figured. Is there a visa that allows a stay of up to 6 months?

Most off the people asking questions call everything put in their passport a Visa, takes some question to find out what kind of stamp or Visa they really have. Different stamps/Visa have different rules and regulations.

In answer, no, because each case is different, there is no "one size fits all" answer.

That's basically just the entire group. 90% of the Q's are A'd pretty F.
