What is the process and experience like for obtaining a Non-O or tourist visa in Ho Chi Minh City?
Has anyone had experience going to Ho Chi Minh City and getting a Non-O or tourist visa there? Are they laid back or fussy about details? Any general tips also? I'm just considering where to go to renew my visa near Thailand, and Vietnam looks easy going. Cheers for any advice in advance! (Also is Vientiane back to normal with the Thai visa application process there?)

Its been a few years since I used HCMC. From what I recall, easy going, but you need to have ALL your paperwork and you need to pay crisp new US currency. I think its the same as getting into Vietnam, need to pay with crisp new currency.

Never used HCMC consulate but from reports it’s a good option. They require an appointment for entry. Vientiane also requires an appointment.
