Update Vientiane.

It was refuse the tourist visa.

Passport from a country of Europe with mostly full of tourist visa and ed visa. ( no red stamp, no warning). Just with 2 visa from Vientaine, one in 2017, one in 2018. In 2019 just I have one tourist visa ( Savannakhet).

Yesterday when I gave them the paper, and passport, they requiered me, my bank statement from thai bank, they said me that they didnt like my bank statement from my country. I should to print it there my thai bank statement

Today, when I went to pick the passport, they told me that they cant give me the visa. With a smile I asked them, why? They said me cant give me the visa bz I have a lot of visas. (from them just 2, and long time ago, I havent any red stamp, any warning in my passport). The university girl working there, was very rude. I asked her.. If I was doing something wrong or bad? She said me No, but go out. She was very rude talking all time, I couldnt beleive that a young girl talk by this way, but still I kept my smile. Same happened a french men today, they didnt give him the visa. (I saw him at border, and he told me his history, without warnings or red stamp).

Nong khai border all perfect, no problems.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The author shares their experience of being refused a tourist visa in Vientiane, despite having a clean visa history with no warning stamps in their passport. They were required to provide a bank statement from a Thai bank, which led to complications. Upon returning for the passport, officials cited the applicant's numerous past visas as the reason for refusal. The author encounters rude treatment from a staff member and mentions similar experiences shared by another expat.

I don't think genuine tourists will have any problems ! đŸ˜‰

I get some of the skepticism here given where the first reports of a massive crackdown by Vientiane came from a couple of weeks back, but are we close to admitting that Vientiane is no longer the happy/easy place to get tourists visa from yet?
Dominic *****
Jim, you mention Work Permit, but not any Non-B or Non-O visas.

@Jim ****
You seem to have left that out of your visa/stay ‘history’ above.

Greg Boudah I am agree, but as I could see today, they like that you do through visa companies. Too, happened something a friend about work permit in Chaengwattana, He have had to go there 4 times, and each time they requiere a new thing. If you do through visa company, just one time.

The days of the border running "tourists" are coming to an end brotha. I think you're going to find Nong Khai or anywhere else less and less of a solution. Kinda sucks but, the immigration folks are paying close attention.

How many visas back-to-back in the last months?

ORIGINAL POSTER
I started the year with a tourist visa of last year 2018(Too, I was in my country 3 weeks), one tourist visa in february (Savannakhet) plus extension and one land border at Kachananburi plus extention.

well, if you get a tourist visa, that'd be 60 days then get a 30 day extension at the immigration office. That'd be that you would do TWO tourist visas in 6 months

that is 100% FALSE :O

You can indeed open a bank account on a 30 day visa exempt or a tourist visa. It's totally up to the branch of the particular branch
Glen *********
Matthias Hartweg yes it's allowed, I've had 2 Thai bank accounts for 3 years on tourist visas:)
