I am planing to get a 90 day non o visa in Australia ,come to Thailand open a bank account,put 800000 baht in account and apply for 12 month extenion based on retirement. I have been coming to thailand regulary over last 2 years on tourist visas for 55 days at a time 2025 3 x .With crackdown on people staying over 150 days i thought its time to get a long term visa

My problem is I dont want to spend 90 days in Thailand to setup the non o visa as getting doctument together to open bank account together then transfering money

Waiting 2 months after money arrives to get extension if I hit some snag along the way will take almost the full 90 days

Any suggestion how i could achive a 12 month extension in less time

Ideally i would like to arrive get a lease on on an apartment open a bank account transfer money return to Australia for a month then return on a new 90 non O and

Extened for 12 months as my 800,000 would had been in bank for 2 months.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user plans to obtain a 90-day Non-O visa in Australia to retire in Thailand but is concerned about the time required to open a bank account and transfer the necessary funds. They seek alternatives to expedite the process, such as returning to Australia after depositing funds in the bank account. Community members suggest strategies like obtaining a single re-entry permit, using a visa agent for quicker processing, and ensuring to return to Thailand before the initial stamp expires to apply for a 12-month extension.

Get an agent, that's what I did and never looked back.

You can do just that get the money in the bank get a re entry permit and leave get back in time to do your extension

or, if not returning within the 90 days, get a new Non-O for the subsequent stay and get the 12 month extension of stay based on this Non-O as the bank account is in place and probably funded with seasoned funds

An agent can sort it quicker, they will even put the 800,000bht into your account for you then remove it they can do it all.

Maybe get an agent involved. They may be able to speed things up a bit. I suppose you'll want a drivers license too

why do people always say "get an Agent" for even the most simple things? I can understand if it is a very complicated situation.

I think some people value their time and money. Not everyone. But some. So they use agents. Who are doing booming business. People didn’t work a lifetime to stand in line at immigration and the bank every year

I would like to get a drivers license to but no rush can do that on another trip

Waste of money and also probably forcing him to use an agent next year too.

@Brandon ***********
yes, waste of money since he did the visa himself

save money as your 800k can stay at home working for you. And save time chasing visa requirements around. In retirement, your time still has value. If you can afford it, you use an agent

You don't need to do anything special.

Arrive with non-O, open your bank account and deposit your money.

At the airport on your way out, get a single re-entry permit for 1200 baht.

When you return you will be stamped back in based on your original entry stamp. Make sure you are back before that expires.

Then go to immigration and apply for your extension.

When can you buy a single re-entry permit, before or after the extension of your Non-O visa to 1 year ?? 🤔 Thank you ! 🙏

@Yaoyu **********
You can buy it either. But you need to understand what a re-entry permit is.

A re-entry permit keeps your existing permission of stay stamp alive if you leave Thailand. If you buy it before your extension, then it's only valid for the stamp you have at the time you bought it. If you buy it after your extension, then it's valid for that extension. All it does is make your existing stamp not be cancelled. It doesn't do anything special, there's no trick with it. It's very simple.
