TLDR : Answer Summary
The money in the bank requirement for a Thailand retirement visa (over 50 years) is 800,000 baht. This amount must be held in a Thai bank account in the applicant's name for at least 2 months prior to applying for the extension and must remain for 3 months following approval. Additionally, the account balance cannot drop below 400,000 baht during the year. The 400,000 baht requirement pertains to the marriage visa.

For banked money method for a visa based on being over 50 (retirement) the requirements are 800K baht in a thai bank account in your name only.

For the year extension on that visa the 800K baht has to be in their account for 2 months before they apply, has to stay in the account for 3 months after they get the extension approved and then the balance can't go below 400K baht the rest of the year

It's the marriage to a thai visa that has the 400K baht requirements ๐Ÿ™‚
