I’m British and travelling to Thailand in a few weeks time. Plan to be there for 7 weeks. Do I need a visa? Is this something I have to do before or just at the airport? Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
As a British citizen, you do not need to apply for a visa before traveling to Thailand for a stay of up to 45 days, as you are eligible for visa-exempt entry. However, since your stay is for 7 weeks (49 days), you will need to extend your stay at a local immigration office for an additional 30 days, or apply for a tourist visa before your trip, which allows for a stay of 60 days. The tourist visa can be obtained for approximately £30.
What? There's plenty of time to get it. She's travelling in a few weeks, the evisa only takes a few days to be issued in the UK. The evisa is a much better option, cheaper and saves a trip to Immigration.
oops. I read it "in a weeks time" so my mistake. Thought she had a week not a few weeks.

With no visa you’d be given a visa exempt entry for 45 days. You can extend that once at a local immigration office for a further 30 days for 1,900 baht.
Alternatively you can apply for a tourist visa prior to coming and you’d get 60 days. Cost is £30.
still an option. However they’ll need valid reasons for needing a multiple entry. If not they’ll give you a single even though you paid for the multiple.
