TLDR : Answer Summary
To stay in Thailand for 90 days, you can apply for a 60-day Tourist Visa online, which can then be extended for an additional 30 days at a local immigration office in Thailand. Upon arrival, your airline may require proof of an onward ticket within the 60 days, although it does not need to be a return ticket. It's advisable to check your airline's policy regarding travelers on a Tourist Visa.

When going to Thailand for 31 - 60 ( 90 )days, the 60 days touristvisa is the best option.

It is cheaper than visa excempt + 30 days extension.

No need of a onward ticket ( 90 days 1 onward ), if returnticket within 60 days.

It is easier to apply from the comfort of your home.

thaievisa.go.th

Not wasting holiday time to find, go to and waiting at a immigration office ( 90 you would need that ).

Then no need to leave Thailand in up to 90 days.

If you want to stay for 90 days you apply online for a 60 days tourist visa and do a 30 days local extension at your local immigration in Thailand as explained. These are the general requirements and you apply online by creating a user in the e-visa portal.

Based on feedbacks I know the embassy in London issues tourist visa with onward flights after the initial 60 days, and I recommend that you contact your airline and ask if this also are ok with them. At the immigration in Thailand it’s normally no issue.

It's an e visa you get online you could also look at a 60 day multiple entry tourist visa.

It lasts 6 months and allows you as many 60 days as you want just leave and each time you return you get 60 days ,even if it has only 1 day before the 6 months is up and you return you will get 60 days again

If you have the 60 day tourist visa, your carrying airline will want to see a ticket out of Thailand within 60 days, as per the rules of the visa application.

This doesn't have to be a return ticket, but only out of thailand. A fully refundable one to some where cheap, out of thailand, is good. You can then cancel and get refunded after arrival in Thailand. extend your visa 30 days.

Avoids the crazy fees charged to move your return flight leg 30 days.

The OP should ask their airline by email what their policy is for people entering on a 60 day Tourist Visa and take a printed copy with them for check in.

Yes this is a 90 days Non O visa based on being over 50 years and income min 65K baht a month. Works very well if you fulfil the requirements. If you just want 60 days, you can apply for a 60 days tourist visa and do a 30 days local extension as well.

Ok, I see at the embassy in Sydney they have something called a “special tourist visa” valid for three months. This is not common, and in fact I’ve never heard of it before.

The STV was a remporary Visa which is no longer available. I think by a 90 day Visa he's refering to the TR60 Visa valid for 90 days and, with an extension, gets 90 days stay.

Hello, just read your comment, you said you applied for a two month tourist visa online and with only a one-way ticket? Is that correct and did you apply in the UK, London Embassy. Thanks for confirming if correct.

Never been asked for onward ticket before and I've been coming for over 20 years ...maybe new airline policy ...for some airlines it's becoming a stipulation now . Just annoying ...you can book a return and cancel or change dates or buy a fake cheap ticket it seems to be what many are doing now . Or go with an airline that doesn't ask
