TLDR : Answer Summary
To stay in Thailand for up to 3 months, you have several options depending on your nationality. If you are not from a visa-exempt country, applying for a Tourist Visa before your arrival is recommended, which allows a stay of 60 days plus a possible 30-day extension. For those from visa-exempt countries, a total stay of up to 75 days may be possible through a visa exemption policy and subsequent extension. If you wish to stay longer than 75 days, you will likely need to leave Thailand and re-enter to obtain another visa or extension.
I am thinking it would be better to find a lady with an address I can use so I don't need to do a TM30 but what would happen if I then booked into an hotel the day I arrive?
I am still trying to get my head around the difference ways of doing this because of the TM30 it's a bit of a nightmare my flight is for one month and I have booked my hotel for one month because I didn't know anything about the 45 day visa when I booked but now I am thinking I won't get the 45 day visa because of my flight and hotel booking is that right?
Its so confusing because I used to live there for 5 years and since then it's changed so much I keep reading different stories but don't know the truth lol
I am hoping to go for 3 months and now because of the 45 day visa on arrival and I can get that extended in Thailand to make it 75 days but could I extend it again for the other two weeks or would I have to leave the country by plane and come back in for another 45 day visa?
If your country is eligable for visa exemptions, you can get up to 75 days after October 1st. 45 days on the exemption itself, and 30 days extension at Immigration.
If you want to stay in Thailand without having to leave during your entire stay, then you would want to apply for a Tourist visa before you come to Thailand.
With a tourist visa you get stamped in for 60 days, and you can apply for a 30 day extension at immigration inside of Thailand. This would give you the 3 months you asked about.
