TLDR : Answer Summary
A UK citizen looking to stay in Thailand for about 60 days can opt for the visa-exempt stamp, which grants 30 days on arrival and can be extended for an additional 30 days at an immigration office for a fee of 1900 THB. Alternatively, applying for a 60-day tourist visa prior to travel through the Thai embassy in the UK is recommended, especially for those who may wish to extend their stay beyond 60 days. It is crucial to have COVID-19 travel insurance for the duration of the stay, especially when flying with airlines like Emirates that offer insurance options with their tickets.

I just got a 90 day Tourist Visa from UK Thai Embassy in London no problems just make sure you have Covid insurance to cover the length of stay i flying with Emirates and they have a travel insurance / Covid policy included in the ticket valid for 12 months. I also 66 been marry to Thai lady 27 years not seen each other for 2 years some guys would say that’s a good thing 😂

I think you need to keep in mind that while the tourist VISA is valid for 90 days <- meaning you have that long to enter thailand on it, when you do get here you'll get stamped in for 60 days like everyone does on tourist visas and if you want to stay 90 days you'll have to apply for a 30 day extension at your immigration office for 1900baht.

similar position, did you get an thing to print out about Emirates insurance?

Contact numbers?

Email address?

I understand free insurance but who do you get in touch with when you need them?

and the Free insurance does not apply for any tickets bought after December 1, 2021.

"Important notice

We’re updating our cover policies. Our multi-risk travel insurance will no longer apply to tickets purchased on or after 1 December 2021."

suggest you look at the FAQ's on the Emirates Airline website about the Free insurance.

As this is Thai Visa Advice forum and not what insurance should I buy...

Good Luck

If you might change your mind and want 60+days get E- tourist Visa which will give you 60 days and an extension of 30 days.

Most people if they have time used to want to stay longer than the original plan

my partner and I want to stay for 90 days for sure... if we get a 60 day visa to start (with the idea of extending for 30 days), will we get approved if our flight isn’t for 90 days? Or would we have to book a flight out for 60 days after arrival and then change it?

I think so and that's my plan but now you made me think.

Best not to over think.

Don't think immigration will care, they will understand 60+30 many people do it, that's why there is a Visa for it

Get the tourist visa online from the UK Thai Embassy...saves you the hassle of having to go to Thai immigration to get the 30 day extension.

You can travel visa exempt and get 30 days stamp on arrival which can be extended for 30 days for 1900B at your local Immigration Office. The alternative is get a 60 day visa before travelling (I believe you can now apply online for these).
