My student visa comes to an end in 40 days and I was thinking of doing a marriage visa. I read that a 40 000 proven income is valid (proven by showing 40 000 coming in my bank account every month?). Any hints on what I need to do please? thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
To apply for a marriage visa (Non-Immigrant Visa Category ‘O’), you need to have not less than 40,000 Baht as proven income transferred monthly from overseas for 12 months or 400,000 Baht in a Thai bank account for at least 2 months. Required documents include your passport, a completed visa application form, a recent passport-sized photo, a marriage certificate, a letter from your employer, bank statements evidencing the required financial stability, a copy of your Thai spouse’s ID, and proof of residence in Thailand. It's advised to consult with your local immigration office as regulations might vary based on your home country.

The money can be from your job in Thailand. If you had a work permit before.

Seek out the smart guys in the bars; they have the contacts who will get this done for a small fee, if you can't meet the requirements ; and its all legal 🙄😁🙏

I respect your opinion Tod; however, I know numerous people around Thailand who do this year on year, but will say no more.

I too know people who do that BUT they are locked into use an agency year after year as the immigration officer only has to look at the stamp to know it's a back-door, under the table visa extension stamp.

That people do it doesn't mean it's the correct way to go about it IF there are other alternatives. Believe me IF there was ever any blow back from it, the person whose passport has the under the table stamps in it would bear ALL the burden not the agent or agency who got the stamp for them..

Spouse visa and a yearly extension based on thai spouse are two different things and have two sets of requirements. Spouse visa must be obtained outside thailand and the requirements can vary a lot depending on what country you apply from.

Best to speak to your local immigration office.

This is the requirement from one of the Thai Embassy in Europe.

@Bonta ****
that has NOTHING at all to do with getting a yearly extension of stay based on marriage INSIDE thailand :(

But if you are already in Thailand you do not need anything regarding employment. I have a “marriage” visa and do not have a job.

It needs to be 40k for 12 months transferred from overseas. Or 400k in a thai bank for 2 months.
