What are the options for obtaining a marriage visa in Thailand post-marriage without proof of income or Thai bank account?

Hi

I got married to a Thai on the 20th October (16th at Amphur). Flying to Bali tomorrow for two weeks. Have been in Thailand since Feb apart from June and July on tourist visas.

I don't have any income or Thai bank account but have money in UK account.

I believe I have to wait 3 months before applying for marriage visa.

Any advice gratefully appreciated 🙏😊

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user recently married a Thai citizen and inquires about obtaining a marriage visa, noting they have no income or Thai bank account. Community members advise that a Non-O multi-entry visa based on marriage can be obtained at the Thai consulate in Savannakhet, Laos, without proof of funds. They also mention that for a marriage visa extension, a monthly income of 40,000 THB or 400,000 THB in a Thai bank account for two months is typically required. Recommendations include preparing necessary documents such as marriage certificate and ID, along with a fee for the visa application.

yes Mark Lawrence Davies Jagna go to savannakhet, Laos for the non - O multy entry based on marriage. Download app form, 1 pic for Lao visa when you enter, 2 pics for app form, then copy your passport (only with stamps on pages) copy Thai wife ID, marriage cert and address book (tabian bann) with her name in it, and take the originals. They'll only ask to see the original marriage cert. Oh and 5000 Baht for the visa. 🙂

Marriage Visa is normally used in stead of Extension of Stay based on Marriage at local Immigration. There you need or 40K income a month or minimum 400.000 Thb 2 months on a Thai bank account. Both as you stated you do not have. Only alternative is getting a Non Immigrant O Visa at Consulate or Embassy and Savanakhet is the easiest one and one of the few without proof of funds.

@Ma**
. You dont need a work permit. As
@Rob***
says try different banks or even different branches. There's thousand of retired and/or married people here with Thai bank accounts and no work permits. Ive never had a WP and Ive got 2 bank accounts here. You will get one somewhere.
Robert *******
Try different banks, they like to make it hard but tell them it is to deposit 400.000 Thb for Visa.

You can get the non imm o multi entry based on marriage at the thai consulate in savanakhet without proof of funds. Its good for nearly 17 months.
Steve *******
David. Like I said it's not about the non imm o visa itself, it's about the status that you obtained it. It used to make a difference.
Steve *******
David. Can you get a WP on an extention of stay based on being over 50? I heard it's not possible, ie status.
Steve *******
David. Good to know, Im sure it used to be based on status of non imm o
Andrew ******
Oh do they ask for the kor ror evidence of still married or original marriage certification ok with your wife there? Steve greir
Andrew ******
Yes I've already got WP with none o based on marriage
@Steve ******

@And***
. You can get a WP and work legally with a non imm o based on marriage or dependency but not if it's based on being over 50, ie retirement.
Steve *******
@And***
. I think it's possible if you have dependent relatives but Im not 100% sure. Ive never had a non imm b multi entry.
Andrew ******
And u can't do this with the none B ?
Steve *******
@And***
. I prefere it.
Andrew ******
That's why the none o multiple is best visa to have
Steve *******
@And***
. 23 months if you extend both 30 day visa exempt entries.
Steve *******
@And***
. You could. Or just get another non imm o multi from savanakhet.
Andrew ******
And after that 17 months in theory you can also do 2 visa runs which will stretch it to 19 months?
Steve *******
@And***
. Yep. 1900bt
Andrew ******
And what's the cost of that 60 days? I'm guessing 1900 baht?
Steve *******
@Ma**
. Get the yellow book and you should have no problem opening a bank account here.

I've been offered yellow book and Thai ID by wife's local Amphur which I believe is quite unusual?
Steve *******
@And***
. Yeah. A lot of people dont know about the 60 day extention based on dependency. You can also get it with a TV and 30 day exemption stamp.
Andrew ******
yes, I have heard you can get 17 months out of a non - O ME on marriage but not many people know about it.
Steve *******
@And***
. Dependent relative, ie wife or child. Same as a 30 day extention but you wife or child needs to go to immigration with you and copies of their ID, house book and birth certificate for a child.
Andrew ******
what's dependency and what's needed for that 60 day extention?
Steve *******
@And***
. 15 months and 60 day extention based on dependency.
Andrew ******
nearly 17 months
@Steve ******
? is that the usual 15 months then 2 visa runs at Myanmar ?
Steve *******
Savanakhet, Laos.
