Hello, I have a question about marriage visa in Thailand about financial,

1. You will need a deposit of at least 400,000 THB in a Thai bank account and maintain it for at least 2 months.

2. Have a monthly income of 40,000 THB, verified via a letter or affidavit from the foreign embassy representing your nationality.

Is this a choice that you can choose or you have to earn both of them?? Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
In Thailand, when applying for a marriage visa (Non-O visa) or extension based on marriage to a Thai national, you can meet the financial requirements through one of the following options: 1) Have 400,000 THB in a Thai bank account for at least two months, or 2) Show a monthly income of 40,000 THB verified by your embassy. Additionally, if you actively work in Thailand, you can also demonstrate a salary of 40,000 THB through official tax and social security documents. Thus, it is not necessary to fulfill both financial criteria; you can choose one that suits you.

There are 3 different options to meet the financial requirements for the 1 year Extension of Stay based on marriage with a Thai female. (AKA marriage visa)

1. 2 months prior application date a minimum of 400.000 Thb in a Thai bank account on your name only.

If multiple account holders the money is divided by account holders.

2. an Affidavit of income of at least 40.000 Thb from your Embassy in Thailand OR if you Embassy does not provide this service:

at least 12 months of foreign deposits of minimum 40.000 Thb into a Thai bank account on your name.

3. If you work inside Thailand, the work permit, minimum salary of 40.000 Thb showed by 3 months tax and sso payments for you as well as needed staff for work permit.

Foreign ladies married with a Thai male do not have financial requirements.

You can choose the option you prefer.

Let say that I did wrote a work permit and payments of tax and SSO.

IF you stop working this Extension of Stay MUST be cancelled using the last day of employment, so there is NO next year.

But if you have 400.000 Thb for at least 2 months in your bank, you can directly apply for a new 1 year Extension of Stay.

Those are OR choices. You meet one of them to fulfil the financial requirements for an in-country Non-O visa/extension based on being married to a Thai.
