Can I get a marriage visa in Thailand based on monthly income instead of bank savings?

My current marriage visa runs out on the 28th of February, and I no longer have 400k in my bank account. Is it still possible to get a marriage visa based on income per month? Further does it need to be a 40k+ a month international bank coded deposit in to my Thai bank account or can it be any amount per month, but over 400k+ per year? I live in Korat, if that helps from immigration to immigration office.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on obtaining a marriage visa in Thailand despite not meeting the bank savings requirement of 400k baht. They ask if it's possible to qualify based on a monthly income instead, and whether this income must come from international deposits or can be any amount exceeding 400k baht annually. Comments clarify that to qualify through income, 40k baht must be deposited monthly into a Thai account for a year. Alternatively, if funds are insufficient or time is short, applicants can consider a 60-day family extension or opt for a multiple-entry NON-O visa from Savannakhet, which does not require proof of funds.

I have placed the TOPIC of Savannakhet on the Post

CLICK on it and all posts about Visas obtained at Savannakhet will pop up to read...

Includes posts about the One year multiple entry Non O Visa as Married to Thai.

READ the posts and you will know what you need to do

Worst case you go to Savannakhet and buy a year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa based on marriage to a thai for 5000baht (which doesn't require the proof of funds).

That visa is good for a year from the date they issue it, each entry is for 90 days and when that 90 days runs out you go to the border, stamp out of thailand, in and out of another country and back into thailand to get a new 90 day stamp. You do that for the whole year the visa is valid for

Is that available for a parent of Thai child? And if so, would you need to be the guardian also? (or does it help if the kid goes as well..)

@Santeri **********
nope there is no year-multi available πŸ˜•

it's a 90 day single entry ONLY from either consulate in Lao

based on raising a thai child

BUT

no parental rights decree needed (y) just the birth certificate and the thai mother's i/d & house book listing.

I know people who don't have parental rights who had been getting that single entry 90 day Non-O based on them being the father of a thai child, entering - getting the 90 day stamp, taking the one 60 day visit thai family extension, giving them 5 months here, then going and getting another 90 day single entry Non-O visa and they did that over and over for YEARS.

Hi Tod,

That solution may be very convenient for myself.

As far as I know, this visa is not issued at Vientiane Thai Consulate. Do you have a link or a document from the Savannakhet consulate for this visa?

Thanks

@Laurent *********
The year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa based on marriage to a thai is NOT available in Vientiane πŸ˜•

It's also not listed on the choices at Savannakhet BUT they most definitely DO sell it. you write multiple entry on the visa application form at the top right and you give them 5000baht when you apply.

Thank you very much. I think this is my best option and only option left, I have 60k+ deposited from an off shore company each month bar one hiccup where I was very ill (I still made 37.5k) so I'm busted I guess. Thanks again for reminding me of this alternate option.

Using the income method, Thai Immigration only wants to see that you have at least 40,000 baht being deposited in each calendar month from a foreign source to a Thai bank account in your name.

They don’t care how you spend it.

The Savvanahket ME Married to a Thai, is a way to bridge to that qualification, or to use without income qualifications.

@Dannie **************
and Tod Daniels thank you further, I'll definitely make the most of it to qualify next year. I actually missed the 40k requirement last year in May, so with the visit Thai family extension I work out I just miss out as it'd be the end of this April I have until. Sod's law. Still, nice to know that the ME visa from Savannakhet will be valid to try again next year in country.
Tod *********
@Dannie **************
they said the missed the 40K baht per month threshold ONE time this last year so they can't use monthly transfers as a way to show proof of funds. πŸ™
Dannie ***************
@Tod ********
Yes, I know, but the ME visa could help him to bridge to the income qualification in the future if payments are maintained, or just use it to maintain legal status year to year.

It really is a little known bargain.
Tod *********
@Dannie **************
the year-multi is his option and he can get 15 months out of it if he plays the bounces right (actually 17 with the 60 day visit thai family extension) that should buy him plenty of time to get his ducks in a row πŸ™‚
Dannie ***************
Yep, it can be a great fit.
Tod *********
Also that 400K baht needs to be in your account for 2 months before you apply for your yearly extension SO if you can get the money but don't have the time maybe you can apply for the 60 day visit thai family extension (you can do that once per entry) for 1900baht..
Tod *********
Unless you come from a country whose embassy here issues the affidavit of income from abroad notary letter (where you can have them notarize you get 40K baht a month) you have to transfer IN from abroad into a thai bank account in your name only a minimum of 40K baht per month each month, every month for the previous 12 months (or you have to legally work inside thailand with a 40K baht a month salary)
Hiroki ********
@Tod ********
does the transfer IN need to be via Wire transfer or would ATM transactions suffice? the last 12 months i brought in more than 40K each month but all in ATM txs
Tod *********
@Hiroki *******
nope, can't use ATM withdrawals, πŸ˜•

you transfer IN to your thai bank account in your name only the minimum required amount and the transfers need to code as international transfers in your bank book
