TLDR : Answer Summary
For a Non-Immigrant O visa based on marriage in Thailand, you need to show financial stability through two methods: maintaining 400,000 THB in a Thai bank account in your name for at least two months prior to your visa application, or demonstrating a monthly income of at least 40,000 THB. Income can be proven through taxation statements if you work in Thailand, or via a letter from your consulate if you're receiving funds from abroad—though not all consulates issue such letters anymore. Alternatively, if you're over 50, you might consider applying for an O-A visa which allows for a 2-year stay.

Initially i will be going for the O A visa based on retirement, i will do this for two years and then change to the non O visa based on marriage. Once again thanks for the time in replying to my question, very much appreciated and as usual very good advice

If your application is done in the uk you are better off showing you uk funds, not only that you could apply for an O A visa if your over 50 which lasts for 2 years. But if your under 50 go for the marriage visa “O”

IF you are talking about a yearly extension of stay from the immigration office based on marriage there are two ways to meet the proof of funds:

1 - bank 400K baht (or the equivalent) in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months prior to you applying for your extension.

2 - show proof of 40K baht a month in income either by legally working here with a work permit using tax statements etc OR by using a letter from your consulate stating you get that income from abroad <- that is IF your consulate still issues such a letter (the consulates from the UK, US, Australia & Denmark no longer issue one) OR transfer in to a thai bank account in your name from abroad at least 40K baht per month for the previous 12 months prior to you applying for an extension.

hi gents thank you both for your response, I forgot to add that I’m a uk citizen. So it’s either 400k in a Thai bank or 40k a month from a bank transfer from my U.K. bank or pension fund

Many thanks guys
