For the marriage visa, you need 400k in the bank, right? Does that need to season for 2 months before/after application? And, also, on the first time applying is it given for 1 year or 3-months and then a year after that. Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
To apply for a marriage visa (Non-O visa) in Thailand, you need to have 400,000 THB in the bank, and these funds must be seasoned for two full months if held in a Thai bank. However, if the funds are in your home country, no seasoning is required. The initial approval for the marriage visa typically grants a one-year extension of stay. It's essential that the bank account is solely in your name for the funds to count towards this requirement.

For Non-O visa or one-year extension based on marriage to a Thai, you need to show proof of funds of 400K - at Thai bank in Thailand or at a bank in your home country if your embassy issues affidavit/letter - or proof of income of at least 40K for each month.

Funds in a Thai bank need to be sit in the account for two months before applying for a one-year extension. No seasoning if your funds in your home country.

Also no seasoning period for Non-O visa application, not an extension.

just FYI, if you are on extension based on employment, not the first Non-B visa stamp, you also can use your salary (at least 40K monthly) as proof of your funds..

Make sure bank account is in your name only as well.

What visa or extension of stay are you now on?

Are you in Thailand or outside Thailand?

The marriage to Thai extension is given for one full year upon approval.

Yes it needs to be seasoned two FULL MONTHS before application.

Are you now Married to Thai ?

I'm in Thailand now. I'm currently on a Non-B visa.

So, to clarify, it needs to be seasoned for TWO MONTHS prior to application. And then, if approved, is the marriage visa given for 1 year? Or is it given for 3 months and then go back and get the one year (similar to how Non B works).

are you on the first 90 days of the Non B visa ?

no I'm not, I've been on a Non B for about two or three years so I was wondering what the process was for changing to Non O based on marriage. I'm assuming you can still work on a Non O (based on marriage)?

....and if I change to Non O (based on marriage) I would need the 400k after the 90 days or if I want to extend it again after a year?

You might able to change the reason of 1 year extension (canceling your current one based on employment and applying for a new one). You have to meet the requirement of 1-year extension based on marriage to a Thai. Better go to your local immigration office to check if they allow that and get the handout for requirements for extension based on marriage to a Thai (or Thai spouse).

You definitely can have a work permit legally with an extension based on marriage to a Thai.

Basically, the whole process of visa and extension Non-O based on marriage is quite similar to Non-B process.

if you are on extension, you don't have to apply for the first visa (Non-O based on marriage). You can apply for just changing reason of extension proving two months seasoned fund.

If you are on the first 90days from Non-B visa, I think it's unlikely possible to change to Non-O in-country.
