Just got my DTV soft power (Muay Thai) approved in Hanoi!

Submitted: May 18th

Pending approval: May 19th

Granted: May 28th

Nationality: Austrian

Didn’t have a bank statement for this month so my bank in Austria stamped and signed the latest one with the current date (since there haven’t been any changes since January so that was the last one I had) + another one from November and screenshots of my online banking.

Was getting a bit nervous cause processing times used to be shorter and I had my flight out of Vietnam booked for June 2nd so super relieved to have gotten my approval.

Also, for anyone applying with an Austrian passport: for my place of issue I put exactly what’s written on my passport (“Magistrat Wien MBA 2/20”) since most people in this group said that’s what you’re supposed to do but was still a bit worried cause it’s so long but no problems at all.

Booked my Muay Thai classes with Muay Thai fever in Chiang Mai and they were really helpful, responded fast to any questions I had and were lovely overall. Excited to train there.

Good luck to everyone still waiting for approval or applying soon ☺️

Hello

I have a non-o trailing spouse one year extension (there are over 10 months left..)

Due to an emergency I have to leave without canceling it. My spouse will remain in Thailand on his work visa-extension.

If, in the future, I will want to go back to Thailand on a new long term visa (work visa or business), will I be able to get a new extension for it?

Will they allow me to cancel that old extension then and there, before getting the new one?

A few updates for Korat immigration from my visit today. TM30 is required for applications. If you stay at a hotel in Korat for your TM30 you must show booking AND the booking must be 7 days or more. Leaving Thailand and returning to same address requires a new TM30 within 3 days of arrival in Korat. The TM30 fine is 800 baht for late submissions.

If you're applying for your DTV 180-day extension at immigration, make sure to do so at least two weeks before your visa expires.

This was a small but important detail I wasn’t aware of. Despite preparing a very comprehensive document package to support my application, I was turned away because I applied only 10 days before my visa's expiration date.

The immigration officer was very helpful and suggested I do a visa run instead.

I flew out to Malaysia and returned via Phuket Airport. Note: Arrivals are now required to complete a digital arrival card in advance. Honestly, this streamlined the entire process. You’ll have the option to list your employment - I listed myself as Founder and CEO of my own corporations, which I operate remotely - and you can also include your visa number for immigration reference.

Thanks to the new digital system, the entire re-entry process was smooth and hassle-free.

Edit: I had applied through Phuket Immigration Office.

Does Taipei still do the walk-in (no appointment) ? Does this mean that I don't have to submit that application online on evsiath.go?

THANK YOU !!! :)

I'm looking for an opinion on the safest way to go about this. I entered Thailand on a Visa Exempt Entry. That gave me 60 days. I'm coming up on that 60 days soon. Would it make more sense to go to immigration and apply for the 30 day extension that most people do, or does it make more sense to skip that step and immediately start using a border run company until I'm able to get my longer term visa situated? I'm just looking for the option between the 2 that decreases my chance the most of getting rejected.
