Lose business? For a little amount of agents only. There is much more to lose with people going for the DTV and paying 10k for 5 years (agent or not).

Correct. Some people here still think immigration is here to stamp your passport and say enjoy your stay only. For these, it's or 100% of people getting checked or none, zero balance. They are funny.

They are getting stricter with DTVs. What was considered impossible by some experts here is now getting a bit more probable. As for other visa types (ED).

Yes you can be questioned and yes there no issue if you can prove you're holding the right visa. And that's for all visas. But "He advised me that DTV holders should only stay for 3-4 months, not the full 6 months each time, as people should use the visa for travel." may become an issue for the ones using it as a full time residency visa. What IOs say isn't always accurate. Time will tell.
