Not sure why people go to the embassy - I applied online and never showed up in person till I set my foot in BKK.

I had to prove that I had residency in HK (which I do), but you can apply from the moon if need be (on their online portal)

it’s a requirement that you show bank statements from the past 3 months. How you get away with that, I don’t know. I submitted from 2 different bank accounts as the first one had my name in Chinese, thus they couldn’t confirm it was me (I didn’t even notice that till I double checked)

Must be in your account for 3 months since you need to show your bank account with your name on it and 3 months statements, thus you must show statements from April May June.

Amazing you got approved. Seems like a lengthy one with more hoops than what I had to go through. Like others in here I firmly believe it was your passport that made them have you show up for interview + round trip tickets. I did neither
