Obviously the previous flights were domestic now they are one ticket and international so you stay airside in bkk to catch flight to CR

 Thats Sydney for ya, I declared mine before i entered the scanner and had no issues at all, i was also carrying proof from my bank.

 not quite in the pocket but yep on me. Flying fortnightly to Thailand I have never felt worried about carrying cash when I need to.
