As for now you have to show up yourself at the consulate, there is no more need to use an agency unless you don't know how to go yourself to the consulate. Agency will just charge you to make a flight onward ticket and hotel booking if you cannot do it by yourself. The meaning of an agency before was to avoid the hassle to show up at the consulate, therefore it was interesting as they handled all of it, not anymore now. So it's quite a money loss now.

No stamp at all from Thai immigration when you transit in Suvarnabhumi airport to another destination per example like Zurich-Bangkok-Kuala Lumpur ?
