Savannakhet used to be a good place, cross at kalasin. Not sure these days but not a bad drive and overnight stay.

Your first 90 day into the country must be done in person. after that you can register and do online. If you leave and come back again the first one is in person. It resets every time you leave.

Take your card and passport to a fx booth or bank and get a cash advance. no fee's. I never understand why people do not do this them post regarding ATM fee's.
